What is GDPR cookie consent?
GDPR cookie consent is an explicit action taken by a user to consent to store cookies by the website. GDPR requires that this consent be “freely given,” “specific,” and “explicit”—meaning that users must actively opt in rather than being automatically opted in when they visit a site.
In order to obtain GDPR cookie consent from users, website owners must provide clear and comprehensive information about what cookies are; how they are used; the duration of their storage; who processes them and for what purposes; and how they can be managed or withdrawn.
