What is IAB TCF 2.0?
IAB TCF 2.0, or the Interactive Advertising Bureau Transparency & Consent Framework version 2.0, is a standardized set of technical specifications and guidelines developed by the Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB). It is designed to facilitate targeted advertising while ensuring compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and providing transparency and control to consumers.
This IAB framework allows vendors, publishers, advertisers, and agencies involved in targeted advertising to participate and obtain user consent for data processing in a consistent and compliant manner. TCF 2.0 introduces several enhancements compared to its previous version. These include:
- more detailed descriptions of data processing purposes,
- the inclusion of a “right to object” for users regarding legitimate processing,
- granular controls for publishers over data processing purposes, and
- the ability for vendors to register flexible legal bases to accommodate regional differences in regulations.
